Ashley's year of accomplishments

Ashley has had such an amazing year in 1st grade. Making friendships, reading chapter books (which she is so proud of), writing amazing books, and becoming a hard working student.
The first graders ended the year with an Author Celebration to celebrate all that they have accomplished.
The students began by giving a speech about the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Ashley told a story called Over in the Meadow (fiction story).
I am amazed by the writing Ashley produced this year. She began the year writing stories with 3-5 sentences and ended with many stories that were up to 10 pages.
Ashley wrote a story for her sister. It was so touching (sibling love).
Ashley wrote a fiction story about a dog named Max.
She also wrote a story comparing the differences between frogs and toads (non-fiction).
Ashley's non-fiction book about animal groups.
We ended the author celebration with a class tradition to ending their day, jokes. Grace and Ashley told this joke,
"That has a nose like a cat, and has ears like a cat, but isn't a cat?" -- A Kitten.
Ashley used her expertise of origami to teach her classmates how to fold an origami dog. She loved being the teacher for the day, even if it was only for 10 minutes.
Thank you for another great year, Mrs. N. You have done a great job of getting our child off to a great start in their education journey. Ashley loved being with you in first grade.
